Summer Vacation Bonding

My brother makes it a point to come home once a year. This year I thought I'd write about how we spent some of the time we spent together.

1st stop

SVD Tagaytay

Bro: What does it stand for (SVD)?
Me: Sociates Virvi Divini...now wait let me check Google if I was right.  Apparently it's Societas Verbi Divini.  Close!

SVD is the place we turn to when we needed speakers for our recollections way back in college. We had Frater friends in this place,  once upon a time, now they're all off to different countries worldwide.

 2nd Stop:  MOA/SMX - PCTA 2018

The Sweetest sweet but not too sweet  Ninji Desserts

I ate like 4 pcs one after another.

Thank God he created coffee Nestle 3 in 1

Thank you PCTA/ Animax and AXN Asia

Sea Residences is walking distance to SMX making it very convenient for participants of the convention.  While we didn't maximize our stay due to time constraints, we enjoyed the relaxing view from the 4th floor.

3rd stop Our Niece's Debut

Darren turned 18

Debutant with his Papa (my older brother) Fesil Duterte Garces, Fred Duterte Garces(My youngest brother)

Easter Sunday at Home

Holy week has just concluded.

Here's one of the highlights of how we celebrated the "Salubong" in my community here in Executive 1 Springville.

The Encounter of the Blessed Mother and the Risen Christ

The Procession

"Salubong" is a celebration of the supposed meeting of Jesus and Mama Mary after Jesus has resurrected from the dead.   As per tradition, the procession starts with two separate groups. One to follow Mary (women's group) and one to follow Jesus (men's group) The two groups will meet at the center or in many cases in front of the Church.

Done every year at dawn on Easter Sunday; this year we started at around 3:45 A.M. Following the carriage carrying the statue of  Mary the Virgin we lined up with candle in one hand and prayed the Rosary on the other as we slowly march towards the meeting point.

The Beautiful Statue of Mary.
The black veil depicts the sorrow, agony and pain of a grieving mother.

The Risen Christ meets his mother, The Blessed Virgin Mary.

Soon as the Blessed Virgin's veil has been lifted up, the Angels sing in chorus Hallelujah!!!

Our adorable Cherubs and Angels

The Church Elders closing the ceremony with a Pandango sa Ilaw dance at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish ground.

Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Catets soon after.

And we're on our way home @ Officers Avenue

A curious stranger by the side walk.  Happy Easter, Mingming.
