Turning a New Leaf

Image
There’s something about birthdays that nudge me to look back and ask: Did I reach the goals I set for myself?  When the answer leans more toward failure.  I don’t dwell— I reflect. I ask myself what went wrong and, more importantly, how can I move forward without creating more damage.  But this year felt different. Instead of looking back, I found myself fully  in the present—preoccupied in the best way, excited about what lies ahead and embrace what’s new. I feel ready, eager even, to turn a fresh page. A New Chapter Begins Last Monday, I turned 57 years old. There's no sweet-talking it-I am most certainly OLD. The idea of getting older, even of mortality—can be unsettling. It’s a thought I often brush aside. But deep down, I know I want to be prepared for it- just in case it comes sooner than expected.  So now, I choose to welcome this new chapter with a grateful heart—and a deeper appreciation for how far I've come. How to Recognize Your Strength and Inner Worth - A New Perspective

Image
Sometimes a lost soul ushers us to find our own and lead us to a fresh perspective in life. This is what I needed especially at the beginning of the year.  Not long ago, I wasn’t as cheerful as I am today. It took one small, gentle soul to help me see life from a fresh perspective.  The irony of life- sometimes it will take a lost soul to help you find your own.   Res A new soul ushers us to a Fresh Perspectiv e cuing cats is not something new to me. And now Kermit. What she brought in our home is not just pure joy but seeing myself in a better way. I found her and brought her home. She found me and showed me who I am. 1.   You Are  Tough You stood alone while everyone else crouc...

8 Ways to Get Through Love-less Valentine

Image
"This is my song"  at the end of the caption was a smiley .  I giggled and clicked on the notification, to see the whole story. My friend tagged me a Miley Cyrus's video clip,  at the Grammy,  singing "Flower".  I smiled imagining how Lee would have laughed while saying those words in front of me.   I believe every word of it and I believe she meant it wholeheartedly.  I have watched that clip a couple of times in the past few days. They kept creeping on my social media accounts. I'm not really a Miley fan, but in that particular video, she was amazing, reminding me so much of Tina Turner.  And now that my soul-sistah resonates with it, the lyrics made even more sense. It's two days before Valentine's Day.  Most await this love-ly day to celebrate with their respective romantic partners. Eager to profess their undying love for each other. Couples bask in a romantic ambiance, serenaded by romantic tunes,  a bouquet of roses in one a...

Image
Desp ite the Notion that TOO MUCH Internet USE is Breaking Marriages and Relationships T he Internet has evolved to make lives a lot easier yet  despite this premise, more and more people are discouraged to use the world wide web to save their relationships. A lot has been written about how Cyberspace addiction  can eventually lead to relationship break-ups.  Internet addiction is usually associated with impulsivity, narcissism, and aggression to name a few that has carried on its impact on our offline lives,  according to  Elias Aboujauode author of the book   " Virtually You".   H ow many times have you been busy video chatting with friends while your husband waits up for you?  Or how about your kids refusing to eat at the dinner table and prefers to eat alone in his room while playing online games?  Has your husband been sleeping in the next room so that he can watch Netflix as late as he wants?  8 Rules...
